Obituary:
Bert Silva passed away July 26, 2010 at Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 23, 1931 in Hughson, CA to Antonio and Mary Silva.
He is survived by his loving wife Norma Silva of Ceres, three sons Gilbert of Modesto, Roy of Hughson, Jack of El Sobranto, daughter Cathy Bauer of Riverbank, and step-daughter Tami Drayer of Stockton. He also leaves behind 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, two sisters Loraine Pires of Sunnyvale, and Belle LaCross of Riverbank. He is preceded in death by his daughter Mary Silva, parents Antonio and Mary Silva, two brothers Joseph and Tony Silva, and step-son John Drayer.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean War 1952 – 1954. He was a truck driver for several companies for 48 years. He served on the reserves of the Oakdale Police Dept, member of the Modesto Veterans of Foreign War Post 3199 also serving as Honor Guard, American Legion of Turlock, Turlock Sportsman’s Club, California Striped Bass Association, American Truck Historical Society of Central Coast, International Teamsters Retiree Dept., and served as President of the Portuguese St. Anthony’s Celebration of Pismo Beach.
Recitation of the Rosary will be said Sunday, August 1, 2010 at 6:00pm at Allen Mortuary.
Committal service will be held at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery on Monday, August 2, 2010 at 10:30am. Allen Mortuary in charge of arrangements. Please share your memories at www.allenmortuary.com
