Irene Hardin, 95, of Modesto, passed away peacefully at Kaiser Hospital in Modesto with her family by her side. Irene was born in Chicago, IL to James and Josephine Strobl. Irene completed high school in Chicago and initially went to work for a perfume company intending to become a perfumer. She lived and worked in Illinois and Wisconsin before moving to California in 1972. Irene had a very bright, inquisitive mind and worked for 40 years as a legal secretary. She was very artistic and used that ability to make paintings and ceramics. She once studied under William Alexander to sharpen her painting skills. In recent years she made greeting cards and sent them to military servicemen and children. She was recognized with awards for her greeting card design and belonged to a club of card makers. She corresponded with club members by computer even when she was in her 90’s!

Irene is survived by her two sons Ben (and wife Michael) Hardin of Ivins, UT and Joe Hardin of Modesto, one grandson Vance Hardin of Reno, NV and one great grandson Daniel Hardin of Palo Alto, CA.
