John Velthoen passed away peacefully on February 17, 2012 at the age of 90. He was born in Modesto, CA at the ranch house on Pelandale Avenue to Marie and Gerhardt Velthoen. John attended Salida Elementary School, Modesto High School and Modesto Junior College.

John was an avid fisherman and car enthusiast and was loved by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 35 years Florence Eisenhut Velthoen; children Brian (Peggy) Barry (Robin), Bruce (Michelle), all of Modesto and Anne (Allen) Keathley of Sonora, step-children Chuck (Loretta) Holloway of Sheridan, WY and Shelby (Michael) Holloway Greenlow of Sacramento, 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

It was John’s wish that any remembrances be made to First Congregational Church of Salida, P.O. Box 1039, Salida, CA 95368.
