Mary was born Mary Louise Faustino on December 11, 1917 in Half Moon Bay, to Joseph and Mary Faustino. She moved to Hughson, Ca. as a child in 1920. She married the love of her life Manuel Macedo on March 21, 1940. They made their home in Turlock, where she has lived the last seventy years. They made their living as dairy farmers and in retirement grew fresh fruit and vegetables. They were very well known for the gourds they grew which they sold at the local farmer’s market. People came from the Bay Area and beyond to purchase their gourds. Some were even displayed in local art museums. She enjoyed many years of traveling with her family, and could even outplay her children and grandchildren at the casino. She was an amazing seamstress- not only making her children’s clothing- but also, in her later years, crocheting beautiful afghans and gifts for babies. Mary loved her family, beginning with her children Anita L. McCabe and Manuel Dutra Macedo Jr. Her daughter-in-law Judy Macedo, and Lee McCabe. Grandchildren Brenda Stouffer (KC), Julie Perry (Tom), Michele Dixon-James, Neil Macedo, Lena Peelier (Jesse), Michael McCabe (Joann), Linda Lail, 19 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren, brothers Larry Mathias (Dee), Raymond Mathias, David Mathias (Marlene), and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Manuel (Curly) Macedo, sisters Lena Green and Isabel Marinko, brothers Eddie Mathias, Louie Mathias, granddaughter Patricia Delapp, great-great-grandson Isaac Mannon.
Everyone who met her loved her, and she lived her life as a lesson to all- it was a living testament of goodness, kindness, and love that the world needs more of.
