Vernon Leroy Cromwell, 81, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2026, in Modesto, California. He was born on October 1, 1944, in Turlock, California, to Clyde Cromwell and Isabelle (Rollins) Cromwell.

Vernon was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and proud veteran who served his country honorably in the United States Navy. He was known for his dedication to his family, his strong work ethic, and his kindness to those around him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Adele Cromwell; his sons, Mark Cromwell, Alan Cromwell, Trevor Cromwell, and Brian Cromwell; his granddaughter, Brittany Cromwell, daughter of Mark Cromwell; and his granddaughters, Paige Cromwell and Abigail Cromwell, daughters of Trevor and Sarah Cromwell.

Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Cromwell and Isabelle (Rollins) Cromwell; and his siblings, Norma Degman, Jerry Cromwell, Dean Cromwell, Clark Cromwell, and Carol Yates.

Vernon will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his service to his country, and the many lives he touched throughout his years. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

A celebration of Vernon’s life will be held at Allen Mortuary 247 North Broadway Turlock, California on Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at 1:00pm
