    Our dear Amanda,

Though we never met in person, you and I were family from long ago. After decades far apart, we came together with your kind phone reply to my sympathy card for Leola’s passing. Both of us tried to reach out to Raders of your own acquaintance. The time was too long, and the paths of life too different and contorted.

Now you are home with your Aunt “Mandy”. She died young in Nebraska, about the time of your birth. I am sure that you were named for her to help comfort your Grandma Brinkman (my Great).

The Rader/Brinkman ties held up until WWII. We resurrected them c. 2000. You were absolutely wonderful, caring, and full of life. Both my wife and I became deeply attached to you. Your departure leaves a sad, empty spot, but the fond, happy memories will live on.

For us, precious Amanda, you were rare, magnificent, shiny gold. Farewell and goodbye.

    Ronald Rader

My great Aunt Amanda was a beautiful Christian woman. I got to know her when I was a young woman and we continued to be penpals up until a few years ago. My father, Dennis Brinkman, was very saddened to hear of her passing, he loved her and grandma Leola dearly.

My heart aches but my spirit rejoices. It’s hard to know how many lives you touched during your 95 years. It’s safe to say we will never know. What I can say with certainty is this, you taught me how to love, how to put others first, respect my elders, how to give until it hurts, grace, how to do math, and the list goes on. Basically, you showed each person that crossed your path what it’s like to look into the eyes of Christ. I love you and I look forward to hanging out with you one day soon. Our paths will cross again.

I didn’t know you very long grandma. But, the love you showed me when I first met you a few weeks back was amazing. You gave me a huge hug, held me and told me let no one tell you I am not your grandma because I am and always will be. You will forever be in my heart. I wish I could have gone back in time and met you sooner. Grandma you are now in a better place with grandpa. Love you always and forever.

Grandma will always the heart and soul of our family. She is loved by all that have ever known her. She was the most caring and loving person I have ever known who always welcomed anyone and everyone with open arms. It is a great loss for our family with her passing but heaven gained a beautiful angel. She will never be forgotten and will always be the cornerstone of our family. There will never be a day that passes where she will not be in my thoughts. I love you Grandma
