Bruno E. Filippi

July 1929 – February 2013

Bruno Filippi, 83, of Denair, passed away at Memorial Medical Center after a short illness. Bruno was born in Airolo, Switzerland to Teodoro and Chiarina Filippi. He grew up in the Airolo area before moving to America in his early 20’s. He settled in Denair, spent two years in the U.S. Army, and then married the love of his life, Emma Lawrence. Bruno worked for a cabinet shop and later opened his own cabinet shop, Country Cabinet, in Denair. Bruno was a member of the Stanislaus County Swiss Club and an accomplished skier. He was a part of the U.S. Army Ski Patrol and Dodge Ridge Ski Patrol.

Bruno was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Emma in 1997 after 50 years of marriage. He is survived by 2 brothers: Walther and Dante Filippi and sister Rina Kern, all of Switzerland; nieces and nephews: Prisca Hanni of Switzerland, John Allen Periera of Sonora, David Periera of Red Bluff, Tony Lawrence of Oakdale, and Cheryle Shoemaker of Sonora; an aunt Pierina Filippi of Modesto, and numerous cousins, both in the U.S. and in Switzerland. Bruno was loved and will be dearly missed.

Visitation will be at Allen Mortuary on Sun., Mar. 3rd from 3 to 5 pm. Graveside Service is scheduled for Turlock Memorial Park on Mon., Mar. 4th at 10 am.
