Bryan Kane Manley April 6, 1951 - October 15, 2020

April 1951 ~ October 2020

Bryan Kane Manley, 69, of Modesto, California, passed away, on October 15th, 2020.

Bryan was born in Burbank, California on April 6, 1951 to William and Marihelen Manley. He graduated from Downey High School in 1969. After, Bryan attended UC Santa Barbara and CSU Stanislaus where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in History.

In 1967, Bryan met his high school sweetheart, who later became his honey, his boobette, his wife, Nancy Manley (Bauman). Bryan loved his wife more than anything and they recently celebrated 49 years of marriage. Even while apart during his hospitalization, he shared that he could not go a day without talking to the love of his life, his Rosie.

Bryan and Nancy had three children. Sarah Komar (45), Amber Wethern (42), and Travis Manley (36). Bryan loved his children almost as much as he loved his wife. If the kids had an academic or sporting event, you could find him, or hear him, in the stands or coaching on the sidelines. Until his passing, Bryan checked on his children, asked about their spouses, children and lives. He was always invested and took pride in his children, their lives and accomplishments. Anyone who met him, knew that he loved nothing more than being with his family.

Bryan was a banker working for Guarantee Savings, Glendale Federal, Cal-Fed and Citibank for over 30 years. During his career, Bryan created many lifelong friendships because just like his family, Bryan cared about the people he met. When he wasn’t with his family or running the bank, he was an active member of the 20/30 club, Kiwanas, and the SOS Club. Bryan also coached youth soccer, little league and youth basketball. One of his favorite activities was playing Strat-O-Matic baseball, which he played for over 30 years.

Bryan is preceded in death by his parents, William and Marihelen Manley, his twin sisters, Diana Reynolds (Manley), and Dana McManus (Manley), as well as his lifelong best friend and dog Elvis.

He is survived by his loving wife Nancy, his children, Sarah (John) Komar, Amber (Josh) Wethern, and Travis (Alexis) Manley. He is also survived by his bunch of loving grandchildren, Sadie-Anne (TJ) Holley, Kenneth Padilla, Andrew Wethern, Londyn Manley, Mason Wethern, Addisen Padilla, Nicholas Wethern, Jett Manley, Caiden Padilla, Liam Wethern, and Hailey Miller. He is also survived by his dog, Precious.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Our husband, dad, and Gramps was our heart. He was always there with wisdom, love, and support. He was our cheerleader, best friend, rock and at times point of irritation. No matter what, we could always count on him for his love and support. Our family will never be the same without him. We love you Juan, Boo, Honey, Daddy, Poppi, Daddy Honey, Dad, Old Timer, Gramps.

I first met Bryan when he and Nancy were engaged. I was with Nancy when she was having Bryan over for lunch. She was making him a meatloaf sandwich, which Was his favorite as I recall. I myself had never had one so that was my introduction to them (yum).Several months later I was a small part of their wedding. Also my introduction to weddings as it was my first. I guess Bryan and Nancy introduced me to a few of lifes pleasures! Over the years I didn’t see them much but Bryan and my dad Les were on bowling teams together and my Dad always thought so much of Bryan. My bothers Ron and Darryl and I send our heartfelt condolences to cousin Nancy(squirt as my dad called her)and family in their loss.

So shocked to hear of Bryan’s passing. Bryan was a pillar in the local community and had many friends at the SOS Club where we all shared so many special moments. I will remember Bryan most from our friendly pickup basketball games and the golf league. My sincere condolences to Nancy and his wonderful family.

I’ve spent the last few days just thinking about the impact that Bryan, and the whole Manley family has had on our lives. It’s been a life long friendship that began on Clevenger Ave. when we bonded over our two young toddlers and continues to this day. I will forever cherish the gatherings, parties, raft trips down the Stanislaus River (i.e. water fights), wine tasting trips, weddings and so on and so on. There was always fun, friendship and laughter. Though Bryan is no longer with us in body, our fond memories of all those good times together will last forever.

  8. Charlie Mullen says

Bryan was a big part of my life through high school and college. Playing sports, going to concerts, and playing hearts was always a fun time. I would add that chasing girls in high school was a memory but that all ended the night Bryan met Nancy. He was so happy to be with her and his love showed in so many ways. I remember how proud he was when he stood up to the school bully after he insulted Nancy and how proud he was of his love for her. Bryan was always a little better at everything than I was but it was great fun competing with him and laughing with him. I will miss him and hold him in my heart forever.

  9. Chuck and Elise Kleiber says

Well Bryan and Nancy, as life went on, we kinda grew apart over the years. When we lived across from you two on Miles Ct our children were born, raised and played together. Your Amber became best friends with our Alison. Many memories of Hotwheels and cabin weekends were shared. You Bryan, coached our Chris and your Travis along with me in Little League with a great amount of fun, wins and losses. We (all the Kleiber family) will miss you.

  10. Jessica Huntley-Parsons says

Bryan, you made such an impact in the lives of those around you. During your banking days you quite often found yourself surrounded by dramatic female employees. Poor Bryan, not only was he our manager, but he was also our mentor, coach, and diffuser of emotions. I appreciate the time you invested in each of your employees. I also appreciated your no nonsense approach to managing us. I learned the true meaning of integrity while working in your branches. I had the opportunity to see you in business settings as well as with your family. Your smile and laugh was contagious and sincere. Praying for peace and comfort to all who are missing you dearly.

  11. Bob & Linda Anderson says

Our deepest, and most sincere condolences to Nancy, Sarah, Amber, Travis, and all of Bryan’s grandchildren. Even though we haven’t seen Bryan in awhile he has always been a dear friend. We enjoyed our time with Bryan, and family at our time with SOS Club, Active 20-30, our annual Halloween parties, and other social functions.
Bryan, although younger than myself, was someone I always looked up to, and admired him. He was very competitive in all sports, he had a great sense of humor. He respected everyone and made us all feel special.
And Bryan loved his family dearly, they were always a priority.
I don’t say this often, but I truly loved the time I had with Bryan. I will miss him, but he will always be in my heart.
Rest In Peace Bryan, you are now new, no pain, and you are with your Mom and Dad, and your sisters
