Carolyn Lorene Peden, 91, passed away in Modesto on Friday, Dec. 27, 2013. She was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma and graduated from Red Oak High School in Red Oak, OK. After high school she moved to California with her family where she later married Carl Peden. For many years she lived in Bishop. During most of that time she raised her children and worked part time at Schat’s Bakery, Penny’s store, and the Nazarene church pre-school. After Carl retired they moved to Turlock in 1972. In 1992 they celebrated 50 years of marriage.

After Carl passed away she later married Dewey Green. After Dewey’s passing she moved to Modesto in 2010. Lorene loved serving the Lord, attending church and southern gospel music concerts, and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed being a hostess to her family and cooking for large family gatherings. Lorene was a gifted crochet artist and designed many patterns. Her “Wee Angel Crochet Patterns” were amazing and known to those who enjoyed seeing her crochet work and patterns at various craft fairs.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands, and two of her siblings, J.W. O’Bryant and Patsy Michael. She is survived by siblings Jim O’Bryant, Carl O’Bryant, and Betty Gauss. She is survived by her three children Stanley Peden, Margaret (Doug) Jensen, and Carla (Gary) Cottrell as well as four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at Turlock Memorial Park on Saturday, January 4, 2014, 10:00a.m. A memorial service will be held at Oasis of Hope Church, 6600 Claus Road, Riverbank, on Saturday, January 4th at 12:00 p.m.
