Charles O. Boyles

Charles O. Boyles was born April 30, 1930 to Ovie D. Boyles and Virginia C. (Finley) Boyles in Philippi, West Virginia. He spent most of his life in Philippi, only moving to Turlock, California in later life to be near his family. Charles loved his West Virginia and had many lifelong friends in Philippi. Charles passed to rest on February 26, 2013 in Turlock, CA at the age of 82.

Charles was a hard worker, an honest, loving son and brother and self reliant man. He was always there to help anyone who needed it. He started working early in life after graduating from grammar school. Charles did not like school, so thus began his career of doing any odd jobs he could get until he got a little older. He helped cut hay with his father, helped his father with carpentry work, worked in a local grocery store and cleaned local office buildings. His lifetime job was with the City of Philippi, West Virginia from where he retired after approximately 40 years.

Charles was a volunteer fireman in Philippi for many years. He also volunteered in youth sports. He never missed a local football or basketball game. Charles was an avid bowler and bowled in many tournaments throughout the years in the area of West Virginia and Pennsylvania.

Charles was predeceased by his parents Ovie D. and Virginia C. Boyles; brother James D. Boyles; sisters Elsie L. Sawyer and Mary E. Meabrod. He is survived by sisters Louise V. Norman of Turlock and Marilyn J. Stapleton (Bill) also of Turlock and brother David N. Boyles (Sherry) of Ocala, FL.
