Charlotte M. Harder, 97, died peacefully of natural causes in Turlock, CA. She was born to Julia (nee Aymar) and Blythe F McCausland in Weehawken, NJ on October 21, 1917. She moved with her family to Santa Ana in 1920. She attended elementary, high school, and junior college in Santa Ana and remained active with class reunions. Charlotte was a USC Merchandising Business graduate. During WW2, she served as a secretary for the logistical branch of the Army Air Corps in Santa Ana and met Eugene R. Harder. Their commanding officer planned a wedding for them in March 1943 and they took the troop transport train to AZ for the ceremony. It seems fitting that she died on Veteran’s Day; they were able to celebrate 69 years of marriage before Eugene passed away in 2012. Charlotte was a patient representative for Western Hospital in Santa Ana when the hospital opened its door. She devoted her life to care for her widowed mother who lived to reach 100 years. Eugene and Charlotte spent many happy hours researching family genealogy and made two trips to Salt Lake City to confirm their lineage. Her love for dogs will continue to live through the Humane Society of Orange County.

She is survived by five Harder nephews. Per her request, her Santa Ana neighbors held a dinner party on her 97th birthday. She will be interred at Fairhaven Memorial Park, Santa Ana.
