We invite you to share the life of a man who was loved by so many and taken from us much too soon. Sadly, Chris passed away suddenly after a series of asthma-related issues. Our family is heartbroken with the loss of our kindhearted son, grandson, brother and uncle. With his presence came laughter and generosity. Everyone who knew him would say “Chris would give the shirt off his back for family and friends”.

Chris was born in Turlock, CA on April 1, 1971. An electrician by trade, he lived in the Turlock area all his life. Sports were his passion; starting baseball at a very young age, he played for Turlock Little League. He graduated from Denair High School where he excelled in football as a quarterback and baseball as a stellar catcher, helping to lead his teams to undefeated championships. Chris also loved the outdoors, especially hunting trips with his family.

Chris really had a deep fondness for his two nieces, whom he loved dearly as if they were his own. Chris is survived by his parents Gary and Sheri Dutey of Denair and Robert A. Russell of Turlock; grandmothers Marjorie Ann Petersen (Yaya) and Betty A. Dutey; brothers Gary Dutey, Steven Dutey (Jodi) , and Scott Dutey (Serena); sister Heidi M. Burnell, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Our family would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their kind words and many overflowing and thoughtful gestures.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, December 13 at 9:00 a.m. Viewing will be Friday, December 12 from 1:00 – 7:00 p.m., both at Allen Mortuary, followed by a graveside service at Turlock Memorial Park.
