Dean was born in Minnesota to Olaf and Minnie Elness in 1925 and passed away at the age of 91 in Turlock.  He graduated from High School in 1943 and served in the Army during World War II.  He served as a military policeman and chauffeured some important generals during that time.  In 1948 he married Sylvia Elness and together they had two children, Dawn and John.  Dean worked as a maintenance man for Land of Lakes Creamery and at a state hospital.  He volunteered his time with Habitat for Humanity and Samaritan House.  He enjoyed listening to talk radio and Christian radio.  Dean will be remembered as a humble man who always gave good advice and would want people to know that Jesus loves You.

Dean is survived by his children John Elness and Dawn Elness, brother Ted Elness, and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife Sylvia Elness and siblings Beulah, Newell and Dennis Elness.
