Donald “Jerry Miller” Wilkinson
Oct. 1945 ~ Jan. 2021
Jerry passed away at the age of 75.
Donald “Jerry” Wilkinson began life as Jerry Miller. He didn’t find out that this was not his real name until he needed to provide a birth certificate for enlistment in the army. This was a problem initially in the military because he didn’t answer when his name was called. He was sent to VietNam as an electrician and spent his time there repairing communications systems. He set up the sound system for Bob Hope which was an enjoyable memory for him.
On returning home he was employed by then Stanislaus State College where he worked for 45 years. He was instrumental in the development of the campus internet and the start of distance learning for the science department.
He loved basketball and played regularly until he was 65 when he said he could no longer get his toes off the ground.
He had so many skills, and was a great guy, but most importantly, he was a loving father and spouse and a follower of Jesus Christ. We will miss him dearly and look forward to reuniting with him in heaven.
He is survived by his wife Diane Gomes-Wilkinson; children Lee (Molly) Wilkinson and Amie Kenyon; grandchildren Adam Wilkinson, Erin Wilkinson and Emma Kenyon.
Private services were held.
