Doris W. Derby

March 1915 – May 2013

Doris was born in Boston to Nicolaus and Alfreda Reymerth. She was married to the love of her life, Jackson Derby, in 1939. For 65 years they shared their lives together, most of them in the ministry. From coast to coast Doris served with Jack in 15 churches where she played both the piano and organ. She has lived for the past 23 years at the Covenant Village in Turlock.

She is survived by her daughter Diane Krause and husband Jim of Fairfield, granddaughter Tamara Hamner and husband Lewis of Vallejo, grandson Rick DeLaPena and wife Susan of Clovis, grandson Jamie Johnson of Lodi; and eight great grandchildren: Susanna, Erick, Ethan, Evan, Nathaniel, and Sara Beth DeLaPena, and Scott and Cathrine Jean Johnson. Also surviving are nephew Don Skjold of New Castle, niece Janet Valente of OH, nephew David Lasko of MD, and brother in-law George Derby of MA. She was preceded in death by husband Jack in 2005, daughter Jeanne in 2000, and sister Evelyn Lasko in 2008.

The memorial service will be on Friday, May 17 at 2:00 pm at Covenant Village Care Center, 2125 N. Olive Ave., Turlock, CA. The family requests contributions to the Covenant Village Benevolent Fund be made in lieu of flowers.
