Dorothy Elizabeth Hogan


February 1926 ~ March 2014

“The best Wife and Mom ever, and even better Grandma, GG, and Aunt.” Dorothy Hogan, 88, of Turlock, passed away at Alexander Cohen Hospice House. Dorothy was born to Frank and Emelia Bois in Ft. Smith, AR. The family moved to Gardena CA when Dorothy was an infant. She grew up in Gardena, spending many happy hours at the beach. She met the love of her life, Tom, at Shell Oil, and they were married in 1947. Dorothy was a talented hairstylist, accomplished artist, and a certified medical records transcriptionist. She worked at MD Anderson Cancer Center and Memorial Hospital in Houston TX. Dorothy and Tom retired to Turlock in 1983 to be near her sister and brother-in-law Ken. She was a member of the Turlock Country Club, Rockin’ With Round Dancers, and the Emanuel Medical Center Auxiliary.

Dorothy was predeceased by her sisters Frances, Naomi, and Emelia; her daughter Ann and nephews Keith Turner and Roger Cline. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Thomas, daughter Carol (Kurt) Schaefer, granddaughters Pamela (James) Boyd and Christine (Eduardo) Avelar; great-granddaughters Jane and Claire Boyd, grandsons Ryan Gianni and Sean Hogan. She also leaves her brother-in-law Ken Turner, nieces Judy (Lee) Prettyman, Sheila (Gary) Younkin and nephew Larry (Linda) Turner.

There will be no services per Dorothy’s request. Private inurnment will be at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Dorothy’s name are suggested to Community Hospice, 4368 Spyres Way, Modesto CA.
