Dorothy Louise Orr Blumenstein

Dorothy was born in Randolph, MN to Norma Tupper Orr and Lee Orr. She peacefully passed away in Turlock, CA on June 5, 2015 surrounded by her loving family.

Dorothy grew up in Minnesota and moved to Washington D.C. to work for the War Department. There she met her future husband, Edward Joseph (Blum) Blumenstein. After marriage, while Blum was in the Army, they lived in many places including California, Germany, Georgia, New Jersey, Panama and Kentucky before returning to California.

Dorothy and Blum raised a family of seven children. Blum passed away in 1981 and their son, Tom Blumenstein, passed away in 1965. Dorothy will be missed by her children and their spouses, Ed and Carol Blumenstein, Bette Blumenstein and Ron DeLong, Joann Blumenstein, Jim and Bonnie Blumenstein, Jean and Tom Chapin, and Donna and Bob Weaver. She also leaves seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Besides the times she enjoyed with her family and friends, Dorothy was a voracious reader who enjoyed travel, writing and music. She loved the church where she played the organ at the Hilmar and Stevinson Catholic Churches.

Visitation will be at Allen Mortuary on Tuesday, June 9th from 5 to 7 pm followed by a Rosary at 7 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, June 10th at 9:30 am at All Saints University Parish, 4040 McKenna Drive, Turlock CA. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.
