Dwight Russell, the only child of Ernest and Lenora Russell was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in December of 1946. The family moved to the Central Valley and Dwight went to Hilmar High School. He eventually met and married the love of his life Kathryn. They had their first child Jennifer in 1978 and then three years later their second child Michelle was born.
The Oregon Coast was a favorite vacation getaway for Dwight and his family and his favorite pastime was hanging out in his garage working on cars. He enjoyed Jeep racing, building Dune Buggies, camping and riding quads. He truly was a “big kid”! Most of all was the deep love he had for his wife and his family.
Dwight was a Vietnam Veteran with the rank of Sergeant. He was a Sharp Shooter and was awarded the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star Medal and many other medals.
Dwight is survived by his two daughters Jennifer (Josh) Sabin, Michelle (Matthan) Perry; four grandchildren Jacob, Ethan, Lilly, Logan. Dwight is preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife Kathryn.
Remembering Dwight as he wanted to be remembered, there will be a BBQ at 5 pm this Sat. 8/29/2015. Call Allen Mortuary for more information.
