Edward John Johnson went home to be with his Lord on February 26th, 2013. Born in Turlock on June 5, 1925, he was the sixth child born to Edward and Marie Johnson. The family moved to Oakland when Ed was six and he attended schools there. After World War II broke out Ed enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving as a medic from 1943 – 1946. He took advantage of the GI bill and attended S.F. State, graduating with an accounting degree in 1950. Ed worked for several companies in management accounting, controller and treasurer positions. In retirement he earned a real estate license and sold real estate in the Bay Area.
Married to Ruby Christensen in 1951, they have enjoyed 62 years of love and friendship. They have three childre: Chris, Carylee, and Margaret; and three grandchildren: Evan Johnson and Katie and Robert Willadsen.
Ed’s Christian faith and church activities were a vital part of his life. As a boy he attended Beulah Covenant Church in Turlock, and Oakland Covenant Church in adulthood serving as a deacon, church treasurer, trustee and board member as well as singing in the choir.
In 2007 Ed and Ruby moved to Covenant Village where they have had a joyful five plus years.
Ed is predeceased by his beloved parents, Marie and Edward Johnson and his loved siblings: Claus, Victoria, Leonard, Laura and Eldora. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Ruby and their three cherished children: Christopher (Jo-ann) Johnson, Carylee Johnson and Margaret (Bud) Willadsen; three adored grandchildren: Evan Johnson, Katherine and Robert Willadsen; a great niece and nephew: Kay (Carl) Ridenour and Stephen Hansen, as well as great nieces and nephew and several cousins.
Ed will be remembered as a kind and gentle man who honored God, loved generously and encouraged others with his smile.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2013 from 11am – 12pm at Allen Mortuary located at 247 N. Broadway in Turlock. A Committal Graveside will follow also on Thursday starting at 1:30pm sharp at the San Joaquin Valley National Veterans Cemetery in Santa Nella. A memorial to celebrate the life of Edward will be held on Friday, March 8, 2013 at 11:30am at Covenant Village in Berg Hall.
