Elaine Joan Brazeal

Brazel, E web pic1935 – 2015

Elaine Joan Brazeal, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, went to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, Feb.13, 2015.

Born in New York City to Sven and Petranella (Nellie) Ahlstrom in 1935, Elaine moved with her mother to Burlingame, CA, where she grew up in a close and caring community. Cherished high school memories escorted her through life along with the girlfriends who helped create them.

In her younger years, Elaine traveled the world, consuming cultures, broadening her perspective, and appreciating the global landscape, whose beauty she recreated in her own gorgeous garden. Gardening was one of her greatest passions throughout her life. At 36, Elaine was diagnosed with Lupus, which continued to affect her life but not define it. Instead, Elaine encouraged others around her, making them feel special with a contagious smile that lit her eyes, letting her spirit shine through.

Elaine adored her husband and her children with a deep and abiding love. She was overjoyed to be a grandmother to Matthew, Virginia (Ginny), Cole, Mackenzie, Thomas, Emily and Abigail. She is survived by her husband Thomas Brazeal; children Cindy (Jay) Dutton, Heather Downs, Karen (Danny) Robinson, Laura (Ed) Tieman, and Mark (Anita “Annie”) Brazeal; brother Sven Ahlstrom, and her amazing grandchildren.

A Memorial Service, followed by a Celebration, will be held at 11am, Feb. 28 at Big Valley Grace Community Church; 4040 Tully Rd., Modesto, CA.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making contributions in memory of Elaine, to the Lupus Foundation of Northern California; 2635 N First St., San Jose, CA 95134, or Community Hospice Foundation for Alexander Cohen Hospice House; 2201 Euclid Avenue, Hughson, CA 95326
