Leon was born in Oklahoma to Jess and Ora Morrison.  He came to California, with his family, at age 7 and lived in Patterson, Denair and the surrounding areas.

Leon served in the US Army from 1951 to 1952 and then the reserves for five years.

Leon worked most of his career as a butcher and at age 50, went to work for TID.  After his retirement, Leon and Corine spent several years traveling in their RV and going on cruises.  Leon and Corine were married 68 years.

In addition to his wife Corine, Leon is survived by his sons Michael Morrison of San Diego, Melvin Morrison of Denair and his brother Charles Morrison of Eureka.  He is also survived by his grandchildren Jamie, Sean and Missy and great-grandchildren Haley, Jace and Abby.

Leon will be laid to rest at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery on Friday, February 22 at 10:30am followed by a memorial service at 12:30pm at Berkeley Ave. Baptist Church in Turlock.

    Thank you Grandfather for helping lend the hand that raised me, to the man I am today. You helped instill the love and respect that i treat people with daily. i will continue trying to be a better man every minute of the day just so i can try to live up to your stanards and imitate the great man that walked this earth.
    Give Roger and all the rest of our family members a big hug for me.

    P.s. I’ll never wear my hat at the dinner table, just like you told me when i was younger.
