Jagtar Singh Uppal

June 1939 – June 2013

Jagtar Singh Uppal, 74, of Turlock, passed away peacefully after a long illness. Jagtar was born in Uppal Khalsa, India to Lakha and Pritam Uppal, one of eight children. He attended school in India and moved to England in his early 20’s. After living in England for 17 years he moved to California and settled in Turlock. He worked as a production line worker at Foster Farms Poultry plant for 30 years. Jagtar loved old classical, Indian music. He even wrote music himself. He enjoyed traveling and cooking. He was known for his brilliant cooking, a true master of all curry dishes.
Jagtar was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and his first born son Parmjit. He is survived by his wife Gurbakhsh Kaur Uppal of Turlock; six children: Manjit Chahal (Binder Chahal), Amreek Uppal, Amarjit Uppal (Kuljit Uppal), Pardip Uppal (Daljit Uppal), Kashmir Uppal (Vera Uppal), and Dharminder Uppal, all of Turlock; 2 brothers, Rashem and Rashpal Uppal, both of Roseville, 4 sisters, Devo Rhandawa of England, Mindo Lalli of Yuba City, Shindo Chima of Atwater and Gurmito Gill of Yuba City, 11 grandchildren, and one great grandchild. He was making progress after a critical brain surgery and his passing was unexpected and too soon. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
Visitation will be at Allen Mortuary on Saturday, June 29th from 3 to 5 pm. Funeral Service at Allen Mortuary will be on Sunday, June 30th from 12 to 2 pm. Cremation will follow the service. Please leave memories and condolences at www.allenmortuary.com.
