James Leroy Lutz, 81, of Denair passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2014. He was born in Canyon City, Colorado and came to California as a young child. He graduated in 1952 from Modesto Union College now known as Central Valley Christian Academy. He was a carpenter before he became an Insurance Agent for over 50 years. James lived in Oakdale and Twain Heart before settling in Denair in 2003. He was a member of Seventh-day Adventist Church in both Waterford and Turlock. He was also a Literature Evangelist.

James is survived by his wife Joann; five children:Timothy Wayne Lutz, Bradley James Lutz, Derral Edward Lutz all of Oakdale, Richard Grant Sprague of Sacramento, and Kevin Wayne Lutz of San Francisco; five step-children:Vicky Long of Modesto, Chris Wallace of Turlock, James McDaniel of Texas, Mike McDaniel of Napa, and Kelly McDaniel of Hilmar; 7 grandchildren; 7 step-grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters Beth Davis of Modesto and Kara Shona of Linden, CA; and 2 brothers Marvin Lutz of French Camp and Darrell Lutz of Shasta, CA. He is preceded in death by his parents and infant daughter.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at 11am at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Turlock.
