James Ray Mooney, Sr.

James Mooney, Sr., 66, of Modesto passed away at Alexander Cohen Hospice House on Friday, November 11th with family at his side. He was born in Jacksonville, AR to Carie and Martha Mooney in 1945. The family had moved to Livermore, CA in 1950, and James had lived there until settling in Modesto in 1998. He had worked as a carpenter building houses for 33 years. James enjoyed fishing, country music and NASCAR. He was a good ol’ boy.

James is survived by his children Cheryle Post of Atwater and James Mooney, Jr. of Modesto; sister Carolyn Hebenstreich of Modesto; grandchildren Samantha, Jessica, Billie, James III, and Carie; and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Mooney; parents Carie and Martha Mooney; and brother Glendon Mooney.

Services are entrusted to Allen Mortuary. A celebration of life gathering will be at Mancini Hall in Modesto on Saturday, November 19 at 5:00 pm. A private burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery in Livermore. He will be laid to rest by his loving wife of 32 years.
