John Service Sperry Jr., known as Jack, was born June 27, 1945 and passed away June 21, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. Jack was a descendant of both the Service and Sperry pioneers. He was a gifted man who applied his many talents as a devoted father, civil engineer in Jamaica, farmer, beekeeper, auto mechanic, auto shop owner, winemaker, model airplane builder and flyer, wrestling coach, a Mason, scuba diver, backpacker, skier, dune buggy driver, landscaper and more. According to Jack, all of these accomplishments paled in comparison to his spiritual transformation and awakening to the deep peace and presence of love found within us all. He died with a serene and knowing smile on his face.

He raised two sons, Scott and Jack with his wife Sonja. Later in life he became a devoted companion to Linda Neeley and a wise and good friend to her children Laura and Jeff Long and Wil Neeley.

He leaves behind his sons, brothers Steve and Jeff, cousins Gay Sperry and Gary Peterson, grandchildren Jack, Peyton, Brody and Ryan Claire, and many other family members and friends including Patty, Mike, Laurie, Wes, and Dr. Uytingco, Cutie Pie, Sporty and numerous lucky dogs and cats who found Jack. Thank you all for your loving vigil and support during Jack’s last days.
