Jose Alberto Santana “Hoser” November 5, 1963 - September 12, 2021

1963 ~ 2021

Jose Alberto Santana, aka Hoser, beloved father and Papa, 57, of Coulterville, CA passed away at home on Sept 12th.

Jose was born in El Paso, Texas and lived with his aunt and uncle until the age of 12.  He then moved to Sonora, CA where he attended Sonora Elementary and Sonora High. Jose married at the age of 26 and had three children and later two grandchildren, Andres and Natalie. He moved to the Don Pedro area in 1993 where he lived until he left us.

Jose spent 20 years working for Fiberboard / Sierra Pacific and later joining the Labors Union. He was known by his friends as “Hoser” and was happy riding his Harley, being with his grandchildren, camping, watching the Raiders play or having bbq’s with friends.  His last outing was to watch his grandson Andres play football, a sport he also played at his age.  Jose will be missed by many family members and too many friends to list.

Jose is survived by his daughters Stephanie Garcia of Lemoore, CA, and Christina Santana of Modesto, CA; two grandchildren Andres and Natalie Santana Hosack; son Joseph Santana of Coulterville; sisters Linda Haldon of Salmon, Idaho, and Martha, Letty, Lupe, Mariza, Cardenas all of El Paso TX.; brother Humberto Cardenas of El Million Mexico; former spouse Aurora Santana of Stockton, CA; and 17 nieces and nephews.

Jose was preceded in death by his mother Sofia Martinez.

A celebration of life will be held on October 9, 2021, at 1:00 pm at the Sheriff’s Posse in Jamestown, CA.  Masks are strongly suggested.
