Larry was born in Turlock, California. Larry met his wife, Beverley Cash, in 1966 and the two married in 1969. They were married for 45 years. Larry and Bev had two children and continued to live in Delhi. Larry was an active member and Deacon of the First So. Baptist, Delhi. Team roping was Larry’s passion and continued to rope during his illness while remaining an active member of ACTRA for 22 years and joined World Series of Team Roping last year. He served the community as a volunteer firefighter for 38 years in the Delhi Fire Department. In December 2013 he retired from Turlock Irrigation District after 26 years of distributing water to farmers.
Larry had a tremendous love for life and lived his life to the fullest. He welcomed any stray whether human or animal. He organized hunting, camping and wilderness trips for him and his buddies. All of these trips included horsemanship skills, adventures at every turn including rescue and first aid on numerous trips. Larry never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever and whatever was needed.
Larry is survived by his wife Beverley Smith, two children: Jenae Smith Worsham (Bill) and Byran Smith (Holly), grandkids: Dusty Worsham and Zane Smith, mother-in-law: Patricia Cash, sisters: Geneva Herrington Meza (Gil) and Kathy Smith Specker (Dan), parents: Charles Smith (Donna) and preceded in death by his mother Bernice Smith and father-in-law Bill Cash.
Visitation will be held from 4pm – 7pm on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Allen Mortuary.
Funeral services will be at 1pm on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Allen Mortuary with burial to follow at Turlock Memorial Park.
