Lois Gable March 11, 1926 - June 24, 2022

February 27, 1934 – June 20, 2022

Martin L. Johnson, of Ceres, CA passed away at the age of 88 on June 20, 2022, peacefully at his home with his family.

Marty was born February, 27, 1934 in Long Beach, CA to Oscar and Dorothy (Bristow) Johnson.  He attended schools in Long Beach, graduating from Long Beach Jordan High School.  After high school he attended Long Beach City College and Long Beach State, graduating with a degree in Engineering.  He was a member of the AAE Fraternity.  Marty also served in the US Army in the late 50’s.

Marty had several jobs before becoming employed as an engineer at North American Aviation in Downey, CA.  He was instrumental on design engineering for the Apollo Space Craft Program and putting our first man on the moon.  This is an accomplishment that he was very proud of. 

He married Georgia (Buker) Johnson on July 7, 1962 and they resided in Anaheim and Mission Viejo.  They had two sons, Gregg Alan and Jeffrey Allen.  The family moved to Ceres, CA in 1976 where Marty worked at different sales jobs and for P&F Metal of Turlock.  He eventually ended up taking a job with the Stanislaus County.  He was in the Parks and Recreation Department and claimed this to be his favorite job, as he got to patrol the lakes on jet skis.  He later was transferred to the office as an engineer for planning various park projects throughout the County.  He retired in 2007.

He enjoyed the outdoors, Southern California Beaches, golfing, camping, hunting, sailing and RV’ing.  He was a lifelong health enthusiast and maintained his gym membership.  He was an active member of Crosspoint Community Church and loved serving the community and volunteering with the various outreach programs provided by Crosspoint.  He also enjoyed attending Calvary Chapel with his son Jeff. Marty was also a member of Bible Study Fellowship of Modesto.

Marty was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Dorothy Johnson, his wife Georgia Johnson and his grandson Layne Johnson.  He is survived by his son Gregg (Donna) Johnson and son Jeff Johnson, grandchildren, Kortnee (Travis) Streich, Dalton Johnson, Logan Johnson, and Dillon Johnson, great-granddaughters Isabelle Johnson and Kamryn Streich, all of Modesto and Ceres.  Also, Marty leaves behind his sister Doreen Abegg, nephew Eric (Pam) Lawrence of Huntington Beach, brother-in-law Ted (Teddie) Obuzz of Arizona and brother-in-law John (Robyn) Berdino of Turlock.

Celebration of Life on Thursday, August 4th at 10:30am at Calvary Chapel in Modesto.

Marty will be deeply missed by many.
