Loretta Springfield passed away in the early morning hours of September 13, 2015 with her daughter by her side. Loretta was born on May 14, 1933 in Keota, Oklahoma to Bert and Iva Canada. She was the second oldest of 7 children. When Loretta was around 8 years of age the family moved from Oklahoma to California and made their first home in Ballico. Eventually making a move to Stevinson where at the age of 14 she met the love of her life, Charles ‘Tom’ Springfield. Loretta and Tom were married on September 10, 1949. Loretta and Tom eventually settled in Delhi to raise their children. At the time of her passing Loretta was living in Turlock.
Loretta loved to sew and made many clothes for her kids over the years, including her daughter’s wedding gown. Loretta was an avid reader and also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed traveling and after Tom retired they enjoyed many adventures traveling in their motor home.
Loretta is survived by her husband Charles ‘Tom’ Springfield, her son Larry (Rene) of Modesto, her son Garry of Turlock, her daughter Marlene (Jim) Branch of Turlock, and her granddaughter Carrie Springfield of Chowchilla. She is also survived by two brothers, one sister, and one brother-in-law.
Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, and one brother.
The family wishes to thank Emanuel Medical Center, especially the nurses in CCU who treated Loretta and her family with care and compassion: Janice, Angela, Paula, and Shawna. Also, nurses Debbie and Christina.
A viewing will be held on Thursday at Allen Mortuary, 247 N. Broadway in Turlock from 10:00am to 7:00pm. Graveside services will held at Hilmar North Cemetery located on Tegner Rd. between August and American in Hilmar on Friday, September 18, 2015 at 10:00 am.
