Lucien Richard Musso passed away at his home on November 22, 2020. Lucien is remembered as a loving and generous father, a great listener who was supportive of the needs of his family.

Lucien was born on August 23, 1948 and raised in Gilroy, CA by Lucien and Mary Musso with his sisters.  He lived a full and loving childhood.  Lucien married and had four children.  A respected criminal defense attorney, Lucien worked hard to help support his family. Out of his love for classic vehicles and street rods, he invented the Excelsior Valve Cover, a piece of machinery that was deemed “a piece of jewelry for your car”. He was always thinking of new and better ways of doing things.

Lucien was an avid fisherman, feeling most relaxed and peaceful when he was boating and fishing, or when hanging out with his favorite cat “Rusty”. His family remembers him fondly for his trips to the lake, his fascination with mechanics, and his ingenious inventions of silly games to entertain the children, like “cans in space” on the 4th of July.

Lucien was a devout Catholic, attending Mass every Sunday.

Lucien is survived by his four children: Caroline (James) Bray of Modesto, CA, Melissa Musso of Sparks, NV, Monica (James) Perdomo of Santa Nella, and Lucien C. (Stephanie) Musso of Hughson; and 13 grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Mary McCandless of Turlock and Maureen Nolte of Cromberg.

These last two years I was able to meet and have many conversations with Lucien. He and my father Joaquin enjoyed working together on one of his projects. Many times they would stay after hours discussing cars, the old neighbors or just life in general. Lucien was a kind, genuine soul with a keen mind. Our condolences go out to his Family.
He was loved and will be missed. Lucien, May you Rest in Peace.

My uncle and Godfather. I have so many memories of my uncle in both capacities! I remember bringing cupcakes to his law office and visiting his vast library of beautiful law books. He displayed them with reverence and taught me an appreciation of knowledge. I remember my First Communion and how he transported me in his antique Ford. I felt like a Princess. I remember learning about gardening from him, hunting gophers in the fields, and playing in the playhouse he built for my cousins. I looked forward the the 4th of July each year with eager anticipation for his game “cans in space.” When I had my own children, he lovingly showed them how to pick cherries and ride tractors. But most of all, he modeled faith in God, daily and unfailing faith. I love you, Uncle Lucien. May you Rest In Peace with God’s blessings.

Uncle Lucien always had a story to share, and was always an enthusiastic audience for my own tales. His face lit up and his sparkling eyes made me feel like I either had the best stories to tell, or at least I was good at telling a boring story! He remembered the most specific details, and shared them creating vivid pictures of times gone by. He always cared about my children, and asked about them when they weren’t there. If I wanted to see his buttons burst with pride, just mention his grandchildren. He was soooo proud of them! I love him forever!

Lucian Richard, the oldest of my generation of “cousins,” was always respected by us younger cousins. At Palma High School, on to becoming an attorney, always such a good speaker, his great knowledge about and ownership of antique cars, and on and on. His parents were my Godparents, so clearly very special to me, as are his sisters. When he married Carol I adored her, and the few times I got to meet his children they were absolutely adorable. I am confident he was a fantastic grandfather. I send my love to the entire family. May God bless each of his descendants.
