Luis “Manuel” Lopez, 39, of Modesto, entered into eternal peace Sunday, June 1st, 2014. Manuel was born in Yuba City, CA. He grew up in the San Jose/Sunnyvale area before moving to Newman where he graduated from Orestimba High School in 1993. While in high school he played football. He remained a fan of Oakland Raiders and the Oakland A’s. He enjoyed spending time with his kids and loved the time he spent coaching his son’s “pop warner” football team. He was a very friendly guy with a good sense of humor which created a lot of laughter to all who were around him.

Manuel is survived by his children Israel and Damien Lopez of Modesto, his mother Mary Carbajal of Modesto, father Jesus Lopez of Yuba City, and five sisters: Lucy (Carlos) Virgen of Turlock, Toni (Seth) Rustemeyer of Carlsbad, CA, Elena Arzate of Crows Landing, CA, Cristy (Adrian) Diaz of Newman, CA, and Angelica Thompson of Modesto; 2 half-brothers Arturo and Julio Lopez of Yuba City, CA and a half-sister Lizzie Lopez of Yuba City, CA, and many loving nieces and nephews. Manuel will truly be missed and he will forever be in our hearts.

A Rosary / Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 3 pm on Thursday, June 5th. Burial will be at Hills Ferry Cemetery in Newman, CA at 10 am on Friday, June 6th. Memorial gifts are suggested for Turlock Gospel Mission, PO Box 1231, Turlock CA 95381.
