Margery Gumm passed away June 8, 2018 in Merced. She was born in 1932 in Hayward, California to John and Lydia Moniz. She graduated from Hayward High School then attended Merritt Business College in Oakland. Margery married Bill Gumm in 1953. Her husband served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. After the passing of her husband, in 1968 she moved to Turlock and became a Teacher’s Aide at Chatom Union School District for 27 years. Margery attended church in Turlock at Eastside Church of Christ and Monte Vista Chapel.
Margery is survived by her son Donald Gumm (Susan) of Merced; two sisters Janet Dake of Ridgecrest and Kathleen Fontes (Keith) of Redding; five grandchildren Dale Gumm, Jr. (Michelle), Daryl Eric Gumm (Amy), Diane Garrett (Devin), Heather Gumm & Melissa Gumm; and ten great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Bill Gumm, son Dale Gumm, son Dennis Gumm, and brother John Alvin Moniz.
Margery’s family would like to thank Merced Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for two wonderful loving years of care and Covenant Care Hospice assisting her in her final days.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 15, 2018 from 4 PM – 7 PM at Allen Mortuary. Funeral will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 9:30 AM also at Allen Mortuary, with graveside services to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hayward.

June 14, 2018 at 10:19 pmMargy was a wonderful, helper with the children in the Chatom District. I had the honor to work with her for over 29 years.! She always listened to the children/youth, and was so helpful to all the teachers.
Thoughts of faith and hope go out to all the Gumm family.
