Maurice was born in Texas to Rufie & Anniemae Goen. Maurice was raised in Long Beach, CA and it was there she met and married the love of her life, John “Pete” Malan. They were married 53 years before his passing in 1990 at which time she moved from Leisure World Seal Beach to Turlock to be nearer to her son and his family. Maurice and Pete raised 3 children, Richard & Billy Malan of Modesto and Sherri Rozar of Turlock.

Maurice is survived by 4 grandchildren: Rick, Scott & Jahna-Lynn Malan and Randi Rozar Beeson. She is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren: Robert Schilling, Meagan Francom, Kady Malan, Jakob Rozar and Chase Beeson. Maurice was preceded in death by her parents, her grandson Todd Rozar, and her two brothers, R.K. & Billy Carl. She is also survived by 4 nieces and a nephew.

For several years Maurice attended New Life Christian Center. She volunteered at Doctors Medical Center and also belonged to the Newcomers Club. Mom loved to entertain family and friends and was really good at it. She also loved her glass of wine. Unfortunately, dementia stole so much from her. It took memories that spanned over 93 years. Memories of her and our dad being great dancers, memories of many camping and boating trips to Cotton Wood Cove, waterskiing trips to the Sacramento Delta, and traveling. It took her zest and love of life, her beautiful singing voice and her beautiful smile, but it did not take her beautiful blue eyes. And lastly, it took her.

Upon learning of her death her great-grandson Chase said, oh, she lived a long and happy life.

Lift your glasses to a great lady – here’s to you mom, we love you. Thank you for everything. You will be greatly missed.
