Melissa “Missy” Lalisan October 29, 1997 - July 3, 2022

Oct. 1997 – July 2022

When God blessed me with Melissa Ann, I knew I had a rare and extremely unique girl.  Her presence was one of nobility and care for others.  The world was a weight on her heart when she was able to understand reality.  Her brightness shone through her silliness as a child and a deep concern for others.  Her talents were numerous and she stood out in a crowd with no effort.  She cared for me in ways as her brother does.  She had a way with people that was phenomenal.  And to express frustration to others was never hurtful or demeaning, she was magic with communication.  And as the saying from the 1960’s says “Only the good die young.”

She got gobbled up in a cruel and grueling reality with her drug use.  The most unfortunate reality you can experience.  For me to say goodbye to Melissa is a new beginning as a mother.  The pretest me and Missy made it through and proved her talent and boldness as a human.  The real test we failed, together and we fell.  But I never gave up on her and the thought that she would make it through her harsh reality.  The post test is now, and I will every day be here for her as she journeys to the next realm.  I will miss her presence, as a swimmer does in a drought.  I will never let her suffer again and I will always be here for her to visit, every day all day, in spirit.  Her precious soul was so unique it was like being in the Amazon rain forest again, overwhelmed by the beauty and flora.

She will forever be my flower power.

Missy enjoyed softball and playing sports in general.  Her batting average ranked 10th in the nation during her sophomore year at Del Mar High School in San Jose.

Missy will be missed dearly by her parents Joe and Lisa Lalisan; grandparents Kathie and Rick Willadsen, Joe Lalisan Sr.; brothers Joshua Lalisan and Trevor Lalisan; great grandmother Mary Hoskins; aunts and uncles Lloyd Hoskins, Amy (Greg) Bocken; cousins Patrick Bocken, Connor Bocken and Matthew Bocken, David Willadsen and Danny Willadsen; great aunts uncles Dennis (Ellen) Willadsen, Joy (Jim) Wheeler, JoAnn (Dale) Maristuen, Sandy (Wayne) Kiel, Jackie Kroeplin, Peter (Connie) Kroeplin, Kay (Larry) Pealer Inger Kroeplin and Jimmy (Patty) Kroeplin.  She was preceded in death by her grandparents Glenda and Clyde Mann; great grandparents Bill and Doris Willadsen and great aunts and uncles Peggy Kroeplin, Timmy Kroeplin, Terry Kroeplin and Ronald Kroeplin.

Private services will be held.

I knew Missy since the 7th grade. We got really close in high school and she became one of my closest friends then. She was so sweet and really funny. Always left my number in case she wanted to reach out. My condolences to you.
