Mervyn McPherson

Merv was a kind, gentle and generous man who will be missed dearly. Family was always his first priority in life. He served during the Korean war in the Navy on the USS Whiteside during which time he made eleven trips to Japan. Merv always said that his time in the Navy made him a better man.

After his service time he worked in the bakery business for 10years, five of those years he owned and operated his own bakery. Merv also worked as a district manager for The Modesto Bee circulation department for over 30 years. He and his wife Linda retired to Hawaii for 12 years before settling back in Ripon most recently.

Merv is survived by his wife Linda; children Caryn (John) Edens, Kelly McPherson, Mark (Michele) McPherson, Dana McPherson, Stacy (Marc) Ward and Joel (Sabrina) Martinson; aunt Evelyn Dabritz; twelve grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Mervyn and Bernice McPherson.

Graveside service with military honors will be held at Stockton Rural Cemetery located at 2350 Cemetery Lane in Stockton on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at 10:00a.m. Please share your memories at www.AllenMortuary.com.

  1. My Dearest Cousin. Because of life happening we wre not allowed to be family. I m Mother Marie had lived , we would have been a wonderful family. I have loved you all of my life.
