Norma Jean Leonard, 88 of Hilmar, passed away on June 13, 2014. Norma “Jean” Leonard was born in Oklahoma on March 1926 to Francis “Jake” and Deema Kerr. She was an adventurous and caring sister to 7 other siblings. In November of 1951, she married her love, her life-long companion, Audrey Leonard. During their 63 years together they had an exciting journey of traveling the States together. Along the way they made many treasured friends.

Jean was an avid horsewoman and belonged to the California Horseman’s Association. Her passion was organizing the fundraiser for the Association, “Day at the Races” at the Golden Gate Fields. She was also involved in volunteering for 4-H Horsemanship and Western riding classes and touched the lives of many young riders.

Jean was a woman of courage and strength which was evident through her love for others and relationship with Jesus.

She is survived by her sister, Nadine Thomas, Lee Santos and brother, Phillip Kerr and many nieces and nephews. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Audrey, her parents and siblings: Francis Kerr, Juanita Bordwine, James Kerr and Peggy Hamilton.

Services will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 11:00 am at Allen Mortuary, 247 N. Broadway, Turlock, CA with a reception following.
