Norman Louie Ferrari

Norman Louie Ferrari was born in Ballico, CA to Louie and Norma (Baker) Ferrari. On Tuesday March 24, 1925 Norman was the first born of five siblings.

He attended Ballico elementary school through 8th grade. After graduation from Livingston H.S. in 1943 Norman joined the US Navy as an Aviation Cadet. In 1945 after being honorably discharged, he returned to Ballico and helped run the family businesses while studying for his AA at Modesto Junior College.

After MJC he transferred to UC Berkeley from ’49-’51 and earned his first bachelor’s degree. By 1959, Norman had a great thirst for knowledge and decided to attend UC Davis and earn another bachelor’s degree by 1961. From 1961-1987 he worked as a research associate in the viticulture and enology department at UC Davis. Norman was a lifelong member of the American Legion Post 0668. With everything else on his busy schedule he still found time to farm his 40 acres of almonds in Ballico.

Norman is survived by his sister Joyce Lenderman and his 15 nieces and nephews. Norman is preceded in death by his parents Louie and Norma (Baker) Ferrari; siblings Marion Johnson, Don Ferrari, and Pauline Talbott.

Norman was a great man to his family and friends; he went above and beyond his duties as a brother and uncle.

A celebration of Norman’s life will be held on Sunday, May 24th at Turlock Golf and Country Club from 11:00am-2:00pm.
