Paul George Nazar

May 1931 – December 2011

Paul Nazar, 80, of Turlock passed away at home with family at his side on Tuesday, December 13th. He was born in 1931 to George and Elizabeth Nazar in San Francisco. Although Paul was raised in San Francisco, he spent the summers in Turlock on the farm. In 1942, the family moved to the farm in Turlock and began actively farming. Paul attended Lowell Grade School, Turlock High School and Modesto Junior College, until the Korean War began. He enlisted in the U.S.A.F in 1951, serving all of his permanent assignment in the 509th Bombardment Wing at Raswell and Guam. After his discharge in 1955, he went back to MJC and then to CalPoly and graduated from Fresno State as a plant and soil scientist. Paul worked for the U.S.D.A. – Soil Conservation Service as a Soil Scientist for 34 years. Upon his retirement, Paul farmed full time until 2000. After totally retiring, he enjoyed doing his hobbies and sports, such as hunting.

Paul is preceded in death by his wife of 43 years Helen Nazar. He is survived by sons George and William and grandson Tyler Nazar.

Arrangements are entrusted to Allen Mortuary. A visitation will be at Allen Mortuary on Monday, December 19 from 6:00 – 7:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at Allen Mortuary on Tuesday, December 20 at 10:00 am with burial following at Turlock Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to The Church of the East, Turlock.
