A Celebration of Life will be held on April 1st @ 1pm at the Allen Mortuary Event Center on 239 N Broadway, Turlock, Ca.

Born in Peterborough, England, Paul J Paslay, age 77, passed away peacefully on March 10th  in Modesto, CA after a long battle with Alzheimers.

Paul is survived by his wife of 54 years, Brenda and their children Susan (Larry) and Phillip (Karen).  Paul also had three wonderful grandsons, Nicholas (Christen), Brock and Jack.  He also had two step-grandsons Ben (Becca) and Matt (Kristi), and seven step-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his extended California family and many cousins who reside in England.

Paul is predeceased by his parents and siblings.

Paul came to Livermore, CA at the age 12 and graduated from Livermore High School in 1956.  He had lifetime friendships made with Ted Saselli, Tony Dean Berry and Gene Strom.  Dad later joined the US Army and served his time in Germany.  While in Germany, he started a pen friendship with Brenda and after only three times together they married in Germany.  In 1963 they came to Livermore, CA and  Dad started working at Lawrence Livermore Lab and had a 30 year career as an electrician and grew up the ranks to Division Leader at Site 300.  In 1976, the family moved to Turlock and settled in a country life and made many friends.  After retirement in 1991 Paul & Brenda moved to Washington State and made more memories.  In 1999, they moved back to California residing in Pioneer and then settling in Modesto.

Paul had many hobbies.  He loved gardening, fishing, baking, camping, wood work and any home they moved to, he would remodel and take pride in his work.  Paul and Brenda spent many years traveling whether it be visiting relatives in England, touring the United States or camping at Hope Valley or Sunset Beach.  Family was very important to Paul and especially enjoyed any event that involved his grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held on April 1st @ 1pm at the Allen Mortuary Event Center on 239 N Broadway, Turlock, CA 95380.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Paul’s name to the Alzheimers/Dementia Support Center Inc. 700 McHenry Avenue, Suite #B, Modesto, Ca  95350.


  1. Sympathies to all of the family.
    My memories of Paul were as my supervisor at LLNL. My fondest memories were of he and Philip, my father and myself playing tennis on weekend mornings at the college. Blessings to all, remember him with love in your hearts.

  2. Paul was a strong willed and talented man, always willing to help his friends and neighbors. He will be missed.

  3. My heartfelt condolences for the loss of your beloved, Paul. Please know that Jehovah God and his son Jesus Christ is aware of your pain and they care for you. (2 Corinthians 1:3,4) . I pray that you are able to find comfort in God’s promise of paradise where there will be no more pain and sorrow (Revelation 21:4,5)  and the many wonderful  memories of your beloved becoming a reality in the future  resurrection in paradise.  (Acts 24:15). Please accept my sincere condolences. (
