Pauline Joyce Baker

Pauline Baker was born in 1931 on her parent’s dairy in Bellflower, CA, the seventh child of Charles and Margaret Koelzer. When she was three, business declined due to the great depression, so her family moved to Turlock where her parents farmed. At age 12, her father passed away and the family moved into town. Pauline graduated from Turlock High School in 1948. After graduation, she worked as a bookkeeper and met the love of her life, Donald Baker, a serviceman in the US Air Force. They married in 1951, had two sons and travelled the world until Don retired in 1972, at which time they settled back in Turlock.
Pauline loved listening to music, gardening, crocheting, jigsaw and crossword puzzles and above all being with her family. She was a Cub Scout den mother, elementary school aid, Sunday school aid and a deacon at the First Presbyterian Churh in Turlock as well as a volunteer at military hospitals, blood banks and the Castle Air Force Museum.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Don, her parents, and her siblings Paul Koelzer, Rose Martin, Barbara Haugh, Catherine Sandifur and Mary Haring. Pauline is survived by her sons Dale (Margie) Baker, Scott Baker; granddaughters Annie (Jason) Papi, Emily (Brett) Schmitz; three great granddaughters and many nieces and nephews. Remembrances can be made to a Charity of choice or at First Presbyterian Church in Turlock.
