Our beloved Estonian, Rive Trubok, age 67 of Turlock passed away May 22, 2020.  Rive was the first Trubok born in the United States after his parents and sister migrated to Hilmar after WWII.  He lived in Los Angeles where he graduated in 1970 from Poly Technic High School in North Hollywood.  He then moved back to Hilmar and received his Associates Degree from Modesto Jr. College.  Rive owned and operated The Sport Shop Foreign Cars in Turlock for the last 42 years.  Rive grew up riding dirt bikes and raced competitively from 1972 -1978.  He then received his pilot’s license and enjoyed flying his planes.  Rive loved being outdoors, hiking, camping and water skiing and he had a strong love for animals.

Rive is survived by his daughter, Kelley (Alan, Jr) Trubok-Clinkenbeard, granddaughter, Kendall Clinkenbeard; and sister, Ulli (Marshall) Krause.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Rudolf and Aurelie Trubok.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Donations of live blue hydrangea plants can be made in Rive’s memory and will be planted in the family memorial garden. Hydrangeas can be delivered to Allen Mortuary at 247 N Broadway, Turlock, CA 95380 for the family.

I’m so sorry I did not keep up with Raivo. I first met him when he worked for Rupples in Modesto and before he was married. I think in the early 1970’s. He was a great guy with a huge heart and an amazing sense of humor. He loved and was so proud of Kelly. We would swap stories about our kids and he was always positive about what Kelly was doing even when she was being a teenager. Said she was stubborn and had a super strong will. I send my condolences and love to Kelly, her husband and her aunt and hope Rive is flying through the clouds in one of his planes with all his cats. He will be missed.

    Dear family of Rive:

Being in pandemic confinement abroad we were not informed of Rive’s passing until a dear friend forwarded the news. It hit us like a ton of bricks.
When a person of Rive’s quality goes it hurts. He was our only mechanic for the life of our two Volvos. Going on 30 years. Honest and trustworthy to the core. Seriously good at the craft. A delightful conversationalist. A delightful presence.
Kelly, your dad was a PLUS in ours and many other’s lives (not to mention our car’s) . Our deepest, most heartfelt condolences. Please extend the message to his trusted assistant Lilly.

    Godspeed Rive.

    Pilar and John Almy

So sorry to hear of the passing of Rive Trubok – one of the greatest foreign car mechanics and human beings around! He kept our cars running for numerous years – a Fiat station wagon, a BMW 325 and a Volvo. We could always, I mean always, trust him to be honest with our repair needs and we never doubted his work. We had great conversations with him about cars and life, and had a great relationship with him over the years. He will definitely be sorely missed. Thank you Rive!!

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Rive. He kept my cars running for over 40 years with the greatest care and was always so wonderful to work with. To be able to establish a relationship of trust and honesty is very important to me and I felt that I had that with Rive. And some of my cars definitely had to have honest assessments! I always enjoyed talking to him and he will be sorely missed.

Kelley and Alan, I’m so sorry for your loss. Raivo was a good guy, a great storyteller and he kept my Mercedes rolling. To know him brought and brings a smile to your face. Sorry again for the loss of your Estonian!
