Rebecca Ann Brommer

Rebecca Ann Brommer

December 1948 ~ April 2022

Rebecca Ann “Becky” Brommer, was born in Arkansas in December 1948 to Thomas “Joe” and Wanda Mae Britton. At the age of 5, she moved to California, and with her younger sister Linda, attended Turlock Schools, including Hawthorne, Osborn and Wakefield. Becky graduated from Turlock High School in 1967 as an honor student and lifetime CSF Member. She married Mike Brommer in 1968 and had two daughters, Julie and Karen. She was a stay-at-home mom for many years as the family moved out of state to Nebraska, New Mexico and Texas for her husband’s job. Upon returning to Turlock in the 1980’s, she began working for Turlock School District, and retired from Turlock Junior High after 28 years.

Becky loved watching football, both college level and professional, with the Dallas Cowboys being her favorite team. She was a serious country music fan, a grammar queen, and a passionate debater of politics. Becky sang alto in her church choir for numerous years, and spent many hours handcrafting dresses for herself and her girls with her sewing machine. She was a fantastic cookie baker and kept the family well fed with her treats. Becky was a farm wife, supporting her family as they farmed walnut orchards, and also worked alongside her husband during summers when he was superintendent of the 4-H/FFA Rabbit Program at the Stanislaus County Fair. Becky loved to travel and had been to Hawaii, Mexico, and Paris. Becky was most especially proud of all her grandchildren, and was present at each birth. She spent countless hours with each of them, cuddled up reading their favorite children’s books.

Becky is preceded in death by her parents, and her sister Linda Cederwall. She is survived by her loving husband Michael, her daughter Julie (Brent) Gilbreath and their children Kaci, Kiah, Kolby, and Kade Reasoner, Graci, Jamen, and Tanner Gilbreath, her daughter Karen Starr and her children Abby, Megan and Brandon Starr; brother-in-law Dan Cederwall, sister-in-law Cindy Schwartz, and  nieces and nephews Heather Crockett, Chad Schwartz, Rachel Anderson and their families.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her name to Community Hospice to help fund camps to aid children dealing with grief.

Funeral Services will be held at Allen Mortuary on Friday, April 22, 2022 beginning at 10:00am.

We’ve been friends since the early 60s and Larry and you even longer. When someone I love dies the world seems to be missing something. It certainly is missing something without you. Till we meet again my friend.

While the years took us in different directions we quickly recall our special times in ministry together. Love and support always flowed freely between our families and we give it to you once again.

Sad to know that she isn’t there on earth, but at peace knowing that we will meet again in heaven. She was a very sweet and special lady.

As a fellow preteen student at Wakefield Jr High, I remember Becky as soft spoken, gentle & always kind. It was lovely seeing her again at our 50th class reunion.

Becky was an amazing woman. I worked with Her for many years at TJHS and Because of her diligence, perseverance and attention to details, the student activities went smoothly. She was a joy with whom to work and her love of her family was always apparent! My heart goes out to you all. She will be missed.
