Rena Whiteside

Rena (Fujimoto) was born August 5, 1952 in San Jose, CA to Peter and Mariko (Ohara) Fujimoto. She grew up San Jose where she went to high school and met the love of her life, Victor Whiteside. They were married in December of 1969 and celebrated 44 wonderful years together. In 1977, Rena and Victor moved to Turlock where they raised their family. Rena worked for the Turlock School District and then at CSU Stanislaus as an Administrative Assistant for almost 20 years.

Rena was an avid animal lover and successfully raised and showed champion Russian Wolf Hounds for almost 16 years under the White Winds kennel name. She also enjoyed traveling and the beach and visited Hawaii often for the beautiful weather and her favorite spicy pork at Choi’s.

Rena died on June 2, 2014, at the age of sixty-one, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband Victor Whiteside; son Christopher Whiteside; daughter Lorena Whiteside Nelson; son-in-law George C. Nelson II; 2 brothers Mark and Allan Fujimoto and by many beloved family members including cousins, aunts, and uncles in San Jose, CA. Rena was preceded in death by her father and mother, Peter and Mariko Fujimoto.

A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, June 8, 2014 at 12 p.m. at Allen Mortuary with a reception to immediately follow. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Rena’s name to Alexander Cohen Hospice House, c/o Community Hospice, 4368 Spyres Way, Modesto, CA 95356.
