Richard Arlen Patterson passed away, Sunday, May 14, 2017 in Salida, CA after a brief illness. He was 87. He was born Nov. 24, 1929 in Tulsa, OK to Charles and Tracy Patterson. His family moved to California in 1947 and he graduated from Santa Ana High School in 1948. He later attended Modesto Junior College.
Dick served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan and specialized in radar operations and electronics. Dick was honorably discharged and met then married Marilyn Bertalotto June 19, 1965. He was employed as a letter carrier in Turlock for the United States Postal Service for over 30 years, retiring in 1997.
Dick was a member of the American Legion Post 88 in Turlock, CA as well as a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers Union. He enjoyed traveling, gardening and spending time with his daughters and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Marilyn in 2003. He is survived by his two daughters Sharon Patterson and Leisa (Jeff) Turner and four grandchildren Makayla, Jonathon, Spencer and Claire.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 18th from 4 – 7pm at Allen Mortuary. Graveside service will be held Friday, May 19th at 2pm in Winton Cemetery; 7651 Almond Ave. Winton, CA. 95388.
