Robert David Azevedo

May 1938 – June 2013

Robert Azevedo, 75, of Hickman, passed away peacefully at home after a short illness. Robert was born in Turlock to Manuel and Dorothy Azevedo, one of four children. He grew up on a dairy in Hilmar. A graduate of Hilmar High, Modesto Jr. College and Cal Poly SLO, he had a degree in animal husbandry and worked for 40 years as a health inspector and hazardous materials inspector for Stanislaus County Environmental Health. He enjoyed gardening, travelling, and especially biking in Yosemite. Robert had a passion for fast pitch softball. He started pitching at the age of 8. He pitched numerous no-hitter games and has many trophies for his accomplishments. His first love was for his family. He was a true gentleman and a committed family man.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Yvonne Azevedo; children: Michelle (Darrel) Wattle of Hickman, CA, Tom (Kim) Azevedo of Vancouver, WA, Cathy Hart of Livermore, CA, and Jo Anne (Phil) Resmer of Arizona; siblings: Joyce (Lloyd) Lawrence, Marvin (Evelyn) Azevedo, and Manuel Azevedo; eight grandchildren: Tiana, Austin, Danielle, Kyle, Tiffany, Brian, Nikki, and Phil Jr.; and 4 great grandchildren. Robert was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

A private Graveside Service will be held at Turlock Memorial Park on Wed, June 12th at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made in his memory to Community Hospice Foundation, 4368 Spyres Way, Modesto. Please leave memories and condolences at
