Robert Peterson, 78, of Turlock, passed away in Modesto. Robert was born in Ft. Scott, Kansas, the only child of Leonard and Freeda Peterson. He graduated from Wichita East High School and attended Bob Jones University and Friends University in Wichita before serving in the US Army. He was stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood in Missouri and Ft. Ord in California while on active duty. The remainder of his Army service was with the Army Reserves.

Bob was a professional musician. He has played the organ since he was 13 years old. He met his future wife while he was a church choir director and he invited her to join his choir. They were married five months after they met at church. Married in Monterey in 1961, Bob and Mary have been happily married for 53 years. Robert has played organ concerts, dedications, and accompaniment in churches around the country. Most recently, he has been the church organist for First Presbyterian Church in Turlock for the last two years.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife Mary and three children: Christopher Dean Peterson, Mark Edwin Peterson, and Beth Peterson and her husband, Jason Slavens.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the ICU at Kaiser Permanente Hospital for their loving and compassionate care.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 27th, 10:30 am at First Presbyterian Church, 2619 North Berkeley Avenue in Turlock. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested for the Organ Fund at First United Presbyterian Church or the American Diabetes Association.
