Rosa B. Rhodes

March 1927 – May 2013

Rosa Rhodes, 86, of Modesto, passed away at Hylond Medical Center after an extended illness. Rosa was born in Oklahoma to Rupert and Millie Choate. She grew up and graduated from College in Norman, OK. She received her teaching credential from Cal. State Stanislaus and began her teaching career at Walter White Elementary in Ceres. For 30 years she taught math in Sylvan School District. Rosa was named the Stanislaus County Teacher of the Year in 1986. After retiring in 1988 she continued to tutor math students. She had a passion for Bridge and played regularly at the Bridge Center of Modesto.

Rosa was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her four children: Colleen Rhodes of Coulterville, CA, Francene Kelly of Santa Maria, CA, David Rhodes of Oakdale, CA, and Stella Rhodes of Cottage Grove, OR: four grandchildren: Christopher Evans, Daniel Kelly, Savanna Rhodes, and Benjamin Rhodes; one great granddaughter Cayla Evans; and two brothers in Oklahoma: R.D. Choate and Richard Choate. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by family, friends, and former students.
