Ruth was my Aunt. There were three Gann girls. Ruby K. Golart Gann was my mother. You could never find kinder people than Ruth and Elta – two sisters. Ruth was a refuge for me. She was an avid reader and very intelligent. She would never lord it over you and most times, reveled in the people who were visiting. I would so enjoy talking to her about what she was reading and learning. Mostly, when visiting, I loved the unfettered showering of love from her. She spared her love for no one. When I was married to Eve Palacios Martinez, she welcomed Eve like a long lost daughter. With Aunt Ruth, you never felt her love for others diminished in anyway her love for you. She epitomized how to hold and express love in all its perfection and now, eternity. I am blessed beyond measure to have know and loved and been loved by her and her family. I didn’t see her enough. Didn’t call her enough. But she always would welcome us regardless the challenges we faced. I shall love you forever.

No truer words Josh Davis — you captured Aunt Ruth’s heart and soul perfectly. Aunt Ruth always made me feel loved and like family even though I was just an ‘in-law’ married to one of her nephews. She just loved loving on PEOPLE. And she had this sense of humor that I will truly miss. I loved that I could call her and just say “could you say a prayer for me” when I was battling an illness or just sad, she would just do it over the phone and it always made you feel better knowing she was supporting you w/ her love and generous spirit of giving. She touched EVERYONE she ever met, I am sure. I will miss her so much. Rest well Aunt Ruth. I know you will watch over us all till we are all together again as a family.

    Grandma Ruth-
Today is Thanksgiving and I felt it appropriate to give thanks for the life that you lived in front of me and my kids. Thank you for showing us how to truly love as Christ loved. No matter what someone’s last name was, Or where they came from, Or what they had done, you were “grandma Ruth”. When I say “Grandma” Ruth, I mean that you would take them in and feed them, and give them whatever you had to offer to make them feel better. You loved them like they were your own. Although you have a wonderful family, with amazing daughters, grand daughters, and great grand daughters coming up behind you, there will forever be a place in our hearts that could never be filled. You left a mark on this earth for people like me and you will be missed. It is my desire to learn from how you lived, and love the world as you loved me. Thank you for the life that you lived.
