Sam Carnemolla, age 88, a 19-year resident of Turlock, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2019.

Sam was born in New York state, but grew up in San Francisco. His career as a regional manager for a national electrical housing-products corporation spanned many decades. Upon retirement he returned to college to earn his BA and later earned a nursing degree and cared for patients for several years. He deeply loved and cherished his wife and loved his children and grandchildren “all over his heart”. Music, drama, the arts, cooking, classic movies, literature, life-long learning, growing fruits and vegetables, sailing small boats, and helping all he knew to be in need were his passions.

Sam had a wonderful tenor singing voice, enjoyed playing piano and ukulele and organizing group musical performances at nursing homes to make residents smile. Sam was an active member of All Saints University Parish.

Sam is survived by his wife Arline, four children, five grandchildren and one great grandchild. Sam was deeply compassionate with an overflowing joy for life and a friend to all. He always had a smile on his face and a song in his heart. Now he sings eternally.

A Memorial Mass will be held 10 am on Monday, January 21, 2019 at All Saints University Parish, Turlock.

  2. Dr Edward Auen says

Sam was a wonderful man having his service on this special day I choose some quotes from Dr King that Sam lived by:”I have decided to stick with love, hate is to great of a burden to bear” and ” He who is devoid of the power to forgive is devoid of the power to love “. These were part of Sams philosophy of life.

  3. Mary Graff says

Grampa Sam to my son Jeremiah, loved playing
Chess with him, Sam was such a kind spirit, we’ll always remember the kindness and patience he showed my son and how quickly he and Arline would set an extra place at the table for us if we were there close to lunch or dinner time!
So so sad he’s gone, but so blessed to have known him!
