Sherie Morris Mendes passed away on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at the young age of 45. She was born February 5, 1973 at Castle Air Force Base in Atwater, CA to Everet and Nickie Morris. Sherie grew up riding horses competitively in rodeo and gymkana events. She was active in FFA at Hilmar High School (Class of “˜91) where she met Gary Mendes.

Sherie and Gary married November 13, 1993. Everyone admired their playful relationship and fun-loving spirit. Together, they had two daughters, Ashley, age 24, and Kassidy, age 19. Sherie found joy in supporting her daughters throughout their many school and extracurricular activities including softball, volleyball, dance and cheer. Sherie was the backbone and support system of her family while also being employed at Edwards, Lien and Toso, Inc. (Hilmar, CA) for 19 years, where she will be greatly missed.

Sherie was loved by all her friends and seen not only as a friend, but as a mother figure to many. Her contagious smile could light up a room and her positivity changed the lives of many. Sherie was genuine, kind and had a heart of gold. Her spirit will live on forever in the good times we had with her and the memories we share of her. We will remember her forever and she will never lose the large place she holds in all of our hearts.

Sherie leaves behind Gary, Ashley, Kassidy, brothers Jeff Morris (Hilmar, CA) and Randy Morris (Turlock, CA), sister Debbie Silveira, brother in-law Adrian Silveira (Hilmar CA), grandmother Angie Garrison (Turlock, CA), half sisters Sharon Olson, Marie Albers, and Barbara Ackeret (all of Medford, WI), half brother James Morris (San Diego, CA) and many more “sons and daughters” she did not birth. She is preceded in death by her parents and half sister Carol Hedlund.

Sherie Morris Mendes’ funeral service will be held at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church on Saturday, August 25th, at 10:00am. Reception will follow.
